What we are listening to and feeling this week… thank god it’s Friday…

1. Boys Noize - Oi Oi Oi: Aggressive dirty electro from a guy who usually shares the bill with heavyweights like Soulwax, Felix and other left of the centre dance DJs and producers. Although reminiscent of early Daft Punk this is nothing new, but still working casting your ear over.

2. Various Artists - Ibiza Rocks: A 2 CD set featuring acts who’ve graced Ibiza Rocks the annual indie festival come beach party in San Antonio Bay.

3. Bob Sinclar – Live at a Playboy Mansion: A 2 CD compilation mixed by French jock Bob Sinclar (World Hold On, The Beat Goes On) which is Mixmag’s compilation of the month (October). Except 4/4 house beats, in a typical defected style.

4. Foo Fighters – Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace: Do we need to look any further than Q Magazine who proclaim “Foo Fighters have delivered their best album. This surely is their moment”. Get on board for Alt-rock of stadium-sized proportions.

5. Mia – Kala: Bold, brilliantly worldly beats from Britain’s own ‘political pop star’. Sometimes it doesn't need a huge review.

6. Hard-Fi – Once Upon a Time in The West: Rousing rock sing-alongs including the awesome Suburban Knights.... You know who you are.

7. Justice – The cross: We’ve mentioned this before in our CD Inspire section, but this is still a very special album for us, a little hard at times, and nothing ground breaking, but still doing it. Think Daft punk vs Micheal Jackson vs Shandy Sandwich and you’re almost there, but not quite.

Please accept our apologies if you haven't been able to access the blog - we have been carrying out some work, and despite nearly 2 hours knee deep in code, we are back to where we started.

At least we have a new feature to make everything ok, which will be going live tomorrow at 2pm!

Sun, surgery and secrecy in the south of France. A perfect lazy sunlounger read, and enough to put you right off your boxtox injections.

7. The Manny, Holly Peterson (Harper)
Juggling a career, husband and kids, New Yorker Jamie hires a male nanny in this sharp and funny read.

8. Clean Cut, Lynda La Plante (Simon & Schuster)
Detectives Anna and James tackle a gang of murderous illegal immigrants. Sprinted and gruesome, La Plante delivers again.

9. The Naughty Girl’s Guide to Life, Tara Palmer-Tomkinson & Sharon Marshall (Sphere).
TP-T offers advice on being a naughty girl. She’s had a lot of experience!

10. Since I don’t have you, Louise Candlish (Sphere)
Heartbreaking buy fascinating story of a woman trying to come to terms with the death of her only child.

Movie Monday (01):

Welcome to the first of our new weekly 'Movie Monday' features, which aims to explore new DVD releases and 'Must See' titles.

The 28 Days Sequel delivers even more zombie attacks and military mayhem. Not for the Squeamish.

A team of astronauts have to kick-start the dying sun in this gripping sci-fi tale from Trainspotting director Danny Boyle.

Sienna plays 60’s It girl Edie Sedgwick who famously befriended Andy Warhol before descending into drug addiction.

5. This is England (18) Thomas Turgoose / Stephen Graham
Coming-of-age tale from director Shame Meadows about a young boy who falls with a band of skinheads in the 1980’s. Must see.

6. The Painted Veil (12) Naomi Watts / Edward Norton
A dramatic tale of infidelity and love, as Norton drags adulterous wife Watts to a cholera-ridden village in China.

7. Shooter (15) Mark Wahlberg / Danny Glover
Elite sniper Wahlberg is framed for assassination and must take matters into his own hands in his fight for justice.

8. Curse of the Golden Flower (15) Gong Li / Chow Yun-Fat
Think house of flying daggers but with more incest and less fighting, as an empress battles a controlling ruler.

9. Skins (18)
3 DVD boxset of E4’s teen tales of vodka, vomit, virginity smashing and house parties….. The perfect opportunity to catch up before the new series.

Pressing Pause, and then Play 7 days later

Taking the last 7 days away from an internet connection allowed me to do many things, including read the Sunday times cover to cover (plus supplements) in addition to Dave Vice’s fantastic “The Google Story” (which charts the rise and rise of the web’s favourite search engine) and Tescopoly by Andrew Simms (which has certainly caused a great deal of considerations as to my global/local outlook).


The last 7 days have also enabled me to relax and really put pen to paper and start to really plan elements of the cDVDs.co.uk site and it’s future.

Revised: Mercury Music Prize Nominations - Now Sorted

Ok... so we launched a page, raved about it, blog about it and let our friends know wht we had done. But did we check the code? was everything working at it should?

No.

A big thank you to Steve for the email, we'll try and get you a CD sent out to you as per my reply. Might we recommend Chromophobia by Gui Boratto? (minimal/ electro) - It's outstanding.

So.
The Mercury Music Prize Nominations section is now sorted, properly. The Games section is live, properly, and the Wii buttons are working, properly.

Perhaps it was all the excitement of Brighton's new nightclub Digital and the launch last night, or perhaps we just took on too much - whatever the reason, we are sorry if we let you down.

Rest assured that next week will bring more behind the scenes work, which we'll check and check again, before blogging about it.
